A few call offs' through illness, injury and circumstances, saw just 24 ladies taking part, twelve in the Medal and twelve in the Stableford. Although the weather did threaten with possible rain/thundery showers this thankfully did not materialise. Everyone enjoyed the day, though there were a few moans about the lush grass seen as a bit of a challenge as some hadn't seen grass all summer and many were excited to play the new layout. Thanks to Jane Sheppard Lady Captain who acted as starter for the day and Debbie who co-ordinated the day. Thanks too, to the Catering staff who kept us feed and watered. Results. This is a relatively new fixture for our Norfolk Veteran Ladies second team against Lincolnshire. Last year the match had to be cancelled due to excessive heat on the day, so it was lovely to finally play the match in great weather conditions. As the team were disappointed with not being able to play last year, the majority of our players were picked from that squad, along with a few new additions. Unfortunately one of the Lincolnshire ladies made an error in the date, which meant one of their players had to play on their own. The match was played in great spirits and despite the dry conditions, the course was presented well, but Lincolnshire were too strong on the day and Norfolk lost the match 5/1. Match v Suffolk Seniors held at Rookery Park on Monday 22nd June 2026
Our second match of the season was played at Rookery Park Golf Club against Suffolk Seniors.
Despite the amber warning for heat, there was a welcome cool breeze at Rookery Park. The course was presented in good condition with lots of grass on the fairways but the bounces were interesting and the greens tricky.
The matches were close but Suffolk were too strong for us on the day and we lost the match 4/0.
We thanked Suffolk for their hospitality and the light salad after the match.
