Match v Lincolnshire Senior II held at Swaffham Golf Club on Monday 29th June 2026

This is a relatively new fixture for our Norfolk Veteran Ladies second team against Lincolnshire. Last year the match had to be cancelled due to excessive heat on the day, so it was lovely to finally play the match in great weather conditions. As the team were disappointed with not being able to play last year, the majority of our players were picked from that squad, along with a few new additions. Unfortunately one of the Lincolnshire ladies made an error in the date, which meant one of their players had to play on their own. The match was played in great spirits and despite the dry conditions, the course was presented well, but Lincolnshire were too strong on the day and Norfolk lost the match 5/1. Greensomes held at Bawburgh Friday 17 July 2026

Friday 17th July saw Norfolk Ladies Vets welcomed at Bawburgh Golf Club for the Greensomes Competition. A great field of 88 ladies took part from a two tee start and the weather for once was kind. Players came from 18 different clubs which is fantastic. The players certainly took advantage of the amount of run and lots of really good scores were recorded, in total 15 teams scored 40 points or more, what a great result. Many thanks go to Bawburgh Rep Ros Foster who arranged starters for me, Chris Ingram the pro who very kindly produced the cards and lastly Lynda love our President who did the raffle for me. I am very grateful as with enough help events go smoothly. Results are as follows: 1st Deborah Bleasby and Elaine Carter from Royal Cromer with 47 points (ocb) 2nd Janet Goode and Anne Ellis from Hunstanton with 47 points 3rd Mary Tuddenham and Fran Johnson from Bawburgh with 46 points 4th Chris Rayfield from Mundesley and Susan Tuck from Bawburgh with 45 points 5th Maureen McRae and Gill Hodgson from Royal Cromer with 43 points Nearest the Pin under 22 WHI - 16th- Chris Rayfield Mundesley Nearest the Pin over 22.1 WHI - Deborah Bleasby Royal Cromer Commiserations but also congratulations to the pair who scored 42, the two pairs scoring 41 and the seven pairs scoring 40 so near yet so far. Championships held at Dunston Hall on Wednesday 1 October 2025

 A larger field entered the Championships this year, a factor for this was moving the competition to the end of the season from mid-summer, this meant we had a lot more entries particularly in Division 1. Last year there were only seven entries in this category but this year twenty-two entered, so this made for a much better competition. A slightly lower entry from Division 2 of fourteen from nineteen still made for a solid competition. 

 

The weather was good and the Dunston members were very welcoming and supported us by providing a starter, thank you Club Captain and Hilary who ran the raffle for me. 

 

Congratulations to the winners who were as follows, in Division 1 Scratch and defending her title, winning the Championship Cup with a fine score of 81 was Sue Clarke from Kings Lynn, runner up winning the Joy Boult Salver, was Anne Sibley from Wensum Valley with 87. Best Nett, winning the Pallister Cup for Division 1 was also Sue Clarke from Kings Lynn with a score of 73, so a double winner. The Over 65 Gwen Watts Salver was won by Anne Sibley with a score of 76ocb. 

In Division 2 winning the stableford competition and the Curtis Cup, was Pip Martin from Dunston Hall with a score of 35, runner up, winning the Committee Salver, was Avril Carey from Eaton with 33 points and third was Julie Procter from Kings Lynn. The Over 65 Bessie Turnbull Salver was won by Pip Martin making her a double winner also. Well done everyone who took part and enjoyed the day.
