This is a relatively new fixture for our Norfolk Veteran Ladies second team against Lincolnshire. Last year the match had to be cancelled due to excessive heat on the day, so it was lovely to finally play the match in great weather conditions. As the team were disappointed with not being able to play last year, the majority of our players were picked from that squad, along with a few new additions. Unfortunately one of the Lincolnshire ladies made an error in the date, which meant one of their players had to play on their own. The match was played in great spirits and despite the dry conditions, the course was presented well, but Lincolnshire were too strong on the day and Norfolk lost the match 5/1. Friday 17th July saw Norfolk Ladies Vets welcomed at Bawburgh Golf Club for the Greensomes Competition. A great field of 88 ladies took part from a two tee start and the weather for once was kind. Players came from 18 different clubs which is fantastic. The players certainly took advantage of the amount of run and lots of really good scores were recorded, in total 15 teams scored 40 points or more, what a great result. Many thanks go to Bawburgh Rep Ros Foster who arranged starters for me, Chris Ingram the pro who very kindly produced the cards and lastly Lynda love our President who did the raffle for me. I am very grateful as with enough help events go smoothly. AmAm held at Thetford Golf Club on Thursday 19 September 2024
104 ladies had perfect conditions for playing golf with afternoon sunshine and a gentle breeze.
Once again this event was oversubscribed and apologies to those who did not get in as sadly we could only accommodate 26 teams with a two tee start. Everyone seemed to have a good day out and there was a very pleasant atmosphere in the clubhouse.
Prizes were presented up to 5th place, plus some nearest the pins, and this year's first place and winners of the Judith Mackinnon Salver were Jane Wheeler, Sue Hill, Diana Piccolo and Alison Mackway from Dunston Hall.
The Society is very grateful to everyone who generously bought raffle tickets which raised £380 for the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Charity.
Big thanks to Thetford Golf Club for their beautifully presented course and delicious lunch and to their ladies section for all their help in making this a huge success.
