Autumn Greensome held at Wensum Valley Golf Club on Thursday 21st October 2021
NVLGS • December 27, 2021

Our final event of the year was the Autumn Greensome Stableford at Wensum Valley Golf Club on 21st October 2021. The day was slightly disrupted by the inclement weather. We had an hour delay in starting to enable the greens to become playable following the previous day's and overnight rain.
Originally 68 ladies entered from 17 clubs but only 56 actually went out to play. Unfortunately, again due to the weather, buggies were not permitted and consequently there were a few cancellations.
The day went off reasonably well taking everything into consideration and was enjoyed by those who participated.
Thank you to Wensum Valley's Club Representative, Liz Dann, for all her help.

Proceeds of the raffles held at the competitions in 2024 totalled £1,407.70. A cheque for this amount has been sent to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals Charity for the Jenny Lind Appeal. Our thanks go to Jill Bullimore, Angie Allsopp and Sue for running the raffles and to all those who bought tickets.

The Spring Four Ball Betterball Stableford was held at Gorleston Golf Club on 14th April 2025. Competitions Secretary Jill Bullimore reported that 92 members from 14 clubs took part. The weather was fine and dry. However, the wind did get stronger as the day progressed making this a factor to wrestle with. Gorleston Golf Club were superb hosts; everyone made every effort to make our day enjoyable. There were particularly satisfied faces after a lovely fish and chip meal. Congratulations to the winners, Sue Olds and Sue Fage from Wensum Valley, with a creditable 46 points.

Angie Allsopp reported that 88 ladies from 14 clubs played in this event. It was a very good day, the weather was extremely kind and we were looked after very well by all the staff at Bawburgh. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and quite a few stayed for the presentation. Unfortunately, we did not have a starter so everyone saw themselves off, which was not a problem.

Match Captain Sue Saunders reported that this match against Cambs & Hunts Seniors was rearranged from earlier in the year when rain stopped play. The games were played in good spirit and the individual matches were really enjoyed against good opposition. There is no question that the Norfolk team feel at home at the tree-lined King's Lynn course which was in excellent condition and a real pleasure to play on for our final match of the season. Hospitality provided was first-class and a great two-course meal was enjoyed by all. NVLGS colours were presented to Bev Fowler and rather belatedly to Sally Bettinson, Kath Malvern and Anne Sibley.
